It's just the beginning...

literally, + figuratively. I'm standing here in my pajamas at my kitchen island + it's well past lunch hour. My youngest son is on the couch eating marshmallows + watching the tablet so mommy can write this blog. Don't let the esthetically pleasing website fool you, there is a real family behind this business that certainly does not have it all together. I'm far from a 'Pinterest mom' (even though I secretly aspire to be + adore all who are) + my two boys (Kieran, 7 + Liam, 3.5), together with our two dogs (Gordie + Asha) are a handful to say the least! We are busy, but not the extracurricular activities kind of busy, more like the complete chaos + burst your eardrum loud kind of busy. By choice + no regrets.

Two nights ago, the idea for this company came to me. After 20 years in the corporate world, I was burnt out + searching for true fulfillment. Like many, the pandemic gifted me time to reflect + I knew that I needed a drastic change. I wanted to do something creative + get back to nature as much as possible. I wanted an endeavor that was simplistic + would give me the ability to spend more time with my family.

After running the idea by my husband + our boys, the excitement in their faces + immediate story-telling about past outdoor adventures told me that I was on the right track. There's no time like the present, so I got to work doing what I do best - researching + problem-solving. 48 hours later, I have purchased my domain name, created a website, ordered supplies that can't be foraged in our local community forests + as soon as I'm finished with this blog, I will set out on another foraging adventure!

Off to collect some pine needles, bark and keep up with our youngest who never slows down. Wish me luck!
